History In The Making
Schryer’s Barbecue was started by Jonathan Schryer’s love of great tasing authentic slow smoked barbecue. What started as a passionate hobby soon turned into a fresh new business. Jonathan’s vision of creating Saskatoon’s FIRST AUTHENTIC Smoked Barbecue Shack became a reality.
After struggling to find a way through the Health Departments Regulations a solution was finally in sight. The Barbecue Van was found out in Meadow Lake formally known as “The Lunch Box”, fully Health Department approved he had finally found a way to get his Slow Smoked Barbecue to the people.
Debuting at the Saskatoon Fringe Festival 2008, the Schryer’s Barbecue Van was selling out regularly, and received some local recognition in the Star Phoenix news paper. The Fringe Festival was the first in a string of summer events along with his awards won in Smoked Beef Brisket at the Western Canadian Barbecue Championships, best booth award at Premier Wine Festival 2008 and many catering events with a lot of satisfied customers.
Jonathan Schryer opened Saskatoon’s first Authentic Slow Smoked Barbecue Shack on the corner of Miller and 51st, right in the center of the fast food underbelly. Featuring his award winning barbecue, the BBQ Shack will also be serving up his own Smoked Cheese, Smoked Dog Bones, Homemade Barbecue Sauce and Dry Rubs.
